Devdico
Devdico is a project aiming at simplifying international development jargon. This is done by proposing simplified definitions of key terms from international development jargon and developing accessible illustrations of international development expressions.
Devdico’s primary target is the public who is unfamiliar with social justice work. We hope, on the long term, to contribute to an increase of citizen’s active participation in development work.
The project methodology unfolds in three steps: What, Why and How.
Phase 1 consists in introducing a word and its simplified definition. The goal is to make the selected concept (What) simpler or easier to understand. Phase 2 consists in sharing why the selected “word” matters. The why serves as a compass; it gives the audience a reason and a motivation to get involved in the concept. Finally, phase 3 details how to practically employ this knowledge while interacting with development interventions. It goes a step further and presents how to take part in/ hold accountable development actors when implementing projects related to the concept, how to access information related to identified word, how to practically use the concept/word in daily life.
